Dr. Parks' Relationship With Guam
Dr. Parks first visited Guam in the summer of 1999. He fell in love with the island, while also immediately noting the critical need for advanced ophthalmology care. He worked hard to open his own Tamuning practice by 2010. This office is equipped with all the state-of-the-art technology and medical tools available at our facilities in Southern California. He has local staff who assist island patients, and great working relationships with local eye doctors to provide telemedicine consultations and follow-ups.
Is It Time for Me to Have an Eye Exam?
The American Academy of Ophthalmology recommends yearly exams for most adults, and more frequent visits if you have diabetes, high blood pressure, or a family history of eye disease.
The Importance of Eye Exams
Eye exams and early detection are key for treating cataracts, glaucoma, and retinal conditions. Vision issues like cataracts and glaucoma can be evaluated by general ophthalmologists. Dr. Parks is a retina specialist, meaning that in addition to the skill of a regular ophthalmologist, he can provide vision protection to the all-important back of the eye, which contains the retina and vitreous.
Some everyday behavior may be causing your problems, like contact lens wear. For example, even contact lenses can cause infections, corneal ulcers, and even blindness. Visiting Dr. Parks' Tamuning practice allows him to evaluate your ocular health. Utilizing his supreme skill and experience, he can care for your vision with surgery, laser treatments, eye injections, medication, and more.
Request Comprehensive Vision Care
Creating a truly caring relationship is core to Dr. Parks' philosophy. He performs all procedures himself, which means his patients can trust they will be treated by the same dedicated retinal specialist at all of their appointments. Advanced Solutions
At Pacific Retina Specialists in Tamuning, Dr. David Parks provides advanced care for a wide range of retinal diseases that can threaten your vision.

Diabetic Retinopathy Treatment
This condition damages the retina’s blood vessels and is common in people with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. While it cannot be reversed, early diagnosis and treatment can slow its progression. Dr. Parks offers specialized therapies to help protect your eyesight.

Macular Degeneration Treatment
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) affects the central part of the retina, gradually reducing sharp, detailed vision. Though age is the most common factor, genetics and lifestyle also play a role. Treatments can help slow its effects and preserve your sight.

Retinal Detachment Treatment
When the retina pulls away from its normal position, patients may experience sudden floaters, flashes, or shadowed vision. Dr. Parks provides advanced surgical solutions to repair detachments and restore stability to your vision.
