Pacific Retina Specialists remains open for emergency vision care. We understand that medical emergencies cannot wait. As your trusted Beverly Hills, CA, retina care specialist, we will accept emergency visits but with new guidelines until the current shelter-in-place order is lifted.

What About My Elective Procedure?
As ordered by the Director of the California Department of Public Health and California State Public Health Officer, non-essential medical care like eye exams must be canceled or rescheduled. The order is intended to lower the risk of spreading the Coronavirus and to free medical resources to treat sick patients.
What Are Elective Procedures?
Elective procedures are scheduled in advance because the situation does not involve a medical emergency. LASIK and cataract surgery are examples of elective procedures. As required by the shelter-in-place order, Pacific Retina Specialists will not perform elective procedures until the state guidelines allow them.
Rescheduling Your Elective Procedure
Additionally, we are asking patients to postpone asking our office to schedule elective procedures for two months. These steps are intended to reduce crowding in our office. If you have questions about when your elective procedure can be rescheduled, contact our office.
What Constitutes an Eye Emergency?
Eye emergencies require immediate and urgent eye care. An eye emergency can result from an injury or complication related to an eye disease or condition. Situations and symptoms of an eye emergency may include:
- Eye infections
- Eye trauma
- Loss of vision
- Rapid deterioration of vision
- Scratched eyes
- Significant eye pain
- “Floaters” in the vision
- Retinal detachment
- Double vision
Medical conditions that can lead to an eye emergency include:
- Glaucoma
- Blood clots
- Retinal detachment
- Diabetic retinopathy
What Do I Do If I Have an Eye Emergency?
If you experience trauma to your eye, have someone drive you to our office immediately. Patients should never drive if they are experiencing an eye emergency. If you are unsure if you are experiencing an eye emergency, contact our Beverly Hills office. Our eye care team is trained to listen to your symptoms before advising a course of action.
Other Considerations
For the health and safety of our staff and patients, we ask that patients do not visit our office if they have:
- Fever, cough, shortness of breath, runny nose, or sneezing
- Returned from a COVID-19 (coronavirus) high-risk country in the past 14 days
- Been exposed to COVID-19
